Who Can You Teach? What Can You Learn?

Level Up Your Professional Toolkit in the New Year

As we prepare to enjoy the holiday season, it’s also the perfect time to plan how we’ll grow professionally in the year ahead.

Consider adding something new to your toolkit in 2025:

  • Take a class or earn a certification—those extra initials after your name build credibility and expertise.

  • Offer clients access to a new investment vehicle in the financial or insurance space.

  • Learn about new loan products that help more buyers qualify for mortgages.

  • Explore innovative ways to market real estate in the post-NAR environment.

While tools and strategies may not always be available to everyone...

What IS available to all of us—every day—is the choice to pursue excellence.

Position Yourself as a Knowledge Leader

Become a teacher and sharer of knowledge. Find ways to present that knowledge to a receptive audience:

  • Host a subreddit or Facebook group

  • Teach a class at your local library

  • Post short videos on YouTube or Instagram

  • Write articles and start a blog

Position yourself as the expert you are. Grow your following. Call former clients and ask them to leave a review online. When new prospects discover your content, they’ll Google you—make sure they find glowing, recent reviews instead of just a handful from five years ago.

Tip of the Week: Financial Literacy for Your Children

If your kids already have savings accounts, use that foundation to guide their next steps toward financial maturity:

Middle School Years

  • Open a high school checking account

  • Get them a debit card with clear usage rules

  • Teach responsible spending with small amounts

  • Reward good behavior, apply consequences when necessary

High School Years

As they demonstrate responsibility, consider adding them as an authorized user to your credit card with a low credit limit. This teaches them how to use discretionary credit responsibly and sets them up for future financial independence.

By the time they head off to college, they should understand how to manage debit and credit cards—and the value of making smart money decisions when no one is watching.

Quote of the Week

“Don’t worry that children never listen to you; worry that they are always watching you.”

- Robert Fulghum
